1. Data Collected
When you use Magpie, we collect your Instagram user ID and username to associate your saved reels with you. We also collect the messages you send to @magpie.bot (including the reels, Recall queries, and Reel notes you send) and the content extracted from those saved reels (transcripts, on-screen text, and visual descriptions) to make your memory searchable.
2. How Data is Used
Your service data is used to provide the save-and-recall service to you. A Reel note is indexed only for its author and is never added to the shared Reel record used by other savers. We do not use your saved reels or notes to train public models, nor do we access reels you have not explicitly sent to the bot. On our public website, we use analytics and advertising measurement to understand visits and evaluate campaigns.
3. Storage & Processing
Data is stored securely on Google Cloud Platform. Reel content is processed by automated AI models to extract semantic meaning, enabling the core search functionality.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Service data is processed by infrastructure and AI subprocessors necessary to operate Magpie. Website and dashboard visit data may also be processed by analytics and advertising providers, including Google, PostHog, and Reddit, for measurement and campaign attribution. When you buy a plan, we send Reddit a hashed (not readable) copy of your checkout email and the purchase amount so it can tell whether an ad led to the sale. We do not send saved reels, Reel notes, or Instagram messages to those website analytics providers.
5. Retention & Deletion
We retain your saved reels and their notes until you delete them or ask us to delete your data. Deleting a saved Reel also deletes its note. Please review our Data Deletion instructions for more details.
